The Work of Their Hands

The men of the excavation team worked an eight hour shift on Saturday and accomplished more moving of dirt from Hilton Dr. hill to the soccer site. That work continues today. The hill is appreciably lower by now, but very unevenly excavated. The team is being very choosy about what area to take next. The mysteries of dirt movement! As you can see, this movement of trucks back and forth makes crossing the parking lot on foot a trek along “the dusty trail.”
The foundation lines of the theater are becoming more and more recognizable. The east (back) wall trench has been dug, and one begins to recognize the concrete poured on the west (front) side as being part of the foundation even though it looks like very steep steps. Now that the frames for new concrete have been removed close to the building, the room into which the new stairs will come (somehow) is evident.
The trench for the drainage line is nearing the edge of the sidewalk and sports a new white surface pipe (oh dear, what to call these things!).
It has been interesting to see people’s reaction to the temporary drive onto the parking lot. Probably the first things they notice are the barriers which can cause some confusion. Then they seem to notice the gravel path, which leads to a bit of trepidation. Then they seem to muster the courage to give it a try—a bit bumpy, but ok.
